Oleg Sogrin has noticeably refreshed Nova's lineup compared to the first game against the home team, and we don’t have much to change, We're already playing in experimental mode. Nevertheless, Gazprom-Yugra managed to break the series of defeats from Volga in the championship. It turns out, we are on the right path, albeit with obstacles.
In the first set, the teams took turns taking the lead., approaching the ending on the balance 20:20. The Novokuybyshevites managed their chances better at first: Litvinov scored an ace (20:21), and Purin finished off the passing ball in a protracted rally (21:23). Soon, due to Shevlyakov’s error on serve, Nova received two set points, 22:24. Rokhin was the first to be “shot”, also failing to handle the serve. Then Piun didn't figure out the pitch height, hitting the net, 24:24. And the swing started, ended in favor of Gazprom-Yugra with two blocks to Purina: first during his spontaneous attack in the final game (31:30), and then on the prepared survey from the fourth zone (32:30). But his partner Slobodyanyuk returned the loot, failing to cope with the block twice - for the sake of fairness, in the second case, the transfer was extremely inconvenient, 24:22. Shpilev took a risk on his serve and hit the net, 25:22.
Our team can forget the third set, like a bad dream. Or remember as an example, what happens, if you relax after two won games to the point, when the ball falls out of your hands. Already at 4:15 everything became very clear, most of the main team went to rest and reflect on what was happening, and young people got practice. Perhaps, this is the only positive moment of the set. In the second set, Rukavishnikov completely lost the duel to Kovalykov 13:25 talks about that, that we didn’t lose the second part of the set that much, 9:10.
The trend continued into the fourth set, where to the mark 8:8 everything was equal. But then, on each of its serves, “Nova” began to bite off one or two break balls, we were exclusively engaged in filming. This led to the numbers 16:23 on the scoreboard and the absence of any chance to save the set. But Rudnev, who came out to serve, judged in his own way, having withdrawn and given three aces in a row to begin with, odin – after the time-out of Sogrin, 20:23. Nevertheless, our guys got a powerful adrenaline rush for the decisive set. Losing in the opening 5:7, they got three points in a row to start with: Slobodyanyuk withdrew in a difficult situation on the withdrawn ball by attacking the fingers of the blockers, then the block covered Purina, and Kurbatov placed the ace perfectly on the line.
After changing sides the game was equal, in which we initially gave a one-point advantage (10:9 – 10:11), and then returned thanks to the efforts of Skvortsov on the net and Terentyev’s faulty passes to his diagonal (11:12 – 13:12). Rudnev immediately reminded, who is the best pitcher today, knocking Purina out of the reception, 14:12. Another great presentation, we have a passing ball, but Kurbatov rather awkwardly gave it into the hands of the same Terentyev, who rehabilitated himself with a block for not the best passes a little earlier, 14:13. Alexey Rudakov takes a time out and gives a specific task to Kirillov - on what adjustment to whom to pass. And everything is just like clockwork: reception of two pluses, pass to the center, and Kurbatov hits from the block into touch, 15:13.
Uneven game, nervous victory. A good bonus to this comeback is the strengthening of team character. We are pumping up skills, stuffing the baggage with the necessary bumps. Winning makes this process as enjoyable as possible.
