YUKIOR is undefeated so far
The first half of the second round of the Russian Championship in the Youth League with the participation of YUKIOR took place in Surgut, "Yeniseya-2", "Dynamo-Bash-GAU" and "Orenburg-2". Leader, have not suffered a single defeat in the championship, YUKIOR remained. On the first day, the Ugra team beat the Orenburg team. In the first set the hosts, it seemed, controlled the ending, leading 24:21, but lost four goals in a row, 24:25. Only after this did YUKIOR turn on again, and the Orenburg-2 players made two fatal mistakes: receiving to the side and touching the net. In the second game, the hosts' advantage at the end of the set was even more impressive, 24:20, which again did not stop the guests from reviving the intrigue, 24:24 after successful actions on the block and an ace from Evgeniy Filippov. Nevertheless, and this time YUKIOR squeezed the situation in its favor: in the final play, YUKIOR's diagonal Daniil Golovanov pulled out the attack of his counterpart Filippov in defense and put an end to his own attack. For the third set, after two such endings, the Orenburg team no longer had any strength left.
At all, the game can be called a “battle of diagonals”: Daniil Golovanov managed to score twenty points with efficiency in three sets 54% in attack, Evgeniy Filippov dialed 18 points, but with noticeably worse attack efficiency, 38%.
The first match of the first gaming day turned out to be even more interesting: youth from Ufa managed to win a strong-willed victory over Krasnoyarsk. The first two sets went to “Yenisey-2”, 25:17 and 25:20, after which the picture reversed in favor of “Dynamo-Bash-GAU” – 25:20 and 25:18. In the decisive set, the psychological and game advantage was also completely on the side of the Ufa team, 15:8. Krasnoyarsk made fewer mistakes during the match, but they sharply reduced, starting from the third game, attacking performance. The leader in points for the winners was diagonal Stepan Kozhukhovsky (22 Ilya Kovalev played very usefully as part of Gazprom-Ugra), Vsevolod Borchenko’s finishers did not disappoint either (20 points) and Mikhail Khomchenko (19). The second day started with the victory of “Orenburg-2” over “Yenisei-2” 3:1 – the struggle here was extremely hot. This time the nerves of the Orenburg residents turned out to be stronger, than the opponent. Against this background, a similar victory of YUKIOR over Dynamo-Bash-GAU in four games seemed like an easy adventure, with the exception of the third set, the hosts confidently controlled the game.
