AGAIN “NEW”

On Saturday at the Premier Arena we will have an interesting match of the third round of the Super League with Novaya from the Samara Region. In fact, two equal teams will play, solving the same tournament problems. In the previous round and Gazprom-Yugra, and Nova scored one point each, losing simultaneously at their sites in five sets. obviously, that the outcome of the current match will allow someone to significantly improve their tournament position, which guarantees an uncompromising fight on the court.

To get to know your opponent better, let's first look at history. Five years ago, in 2013, "Nova" was on the verge of life and death. The club was disbanded in July, but already in August it was revived after restructuring. Things have been slow for Nova since then., but they're definitely going uphill. Two years later, In 2015, the team returned to the Super League, and consistently increased results: 11-is a place in 2016, 10-is in 2017, 8-is in 2018. However, the perception of the team is much more important, which has also undergone changes in recent years: from the team, who is fighting for survival, to a strong competitive rival, contending for a place in the playoffs.

The current lineup of Nova is capable of a lot. Two strong setters remained in the team from last season - Cheslavs Sventitskis and Vladislav Zhloba, top scorer of the Super League sample 2017/2018 gg, diagonal Romanas Shkulevicius, well-known finisher Denis Biryukov, the entire line of middle blockers – Vladimir Sciemshchikov, Sergey Busel, Ivan Kozitsyn. Instead of Bulgarian Todor Skrimov, who was remembered for his killer serves, the more athletic Cuban Yordan Bisset was invited to the team, another finisher - Anton Botin, as well as libero Alexey Kabeshov, another well-known player in Surgut.

In general, the composition is well-played and “biting”, fighting on the court to the last. Which bears fruit - in the last championship, Nova won nine five-set matches out of ten! Two of them, by the way, fell to the share of Gazprom-Yugra – so on Saturday the residents of Surgut will have an additional incentive called “revenge”.
