Arthur Garaev: "I strive to become one of the best in Russia"

Arthur Garaev, probably, The most "dark horse" of the newcomers "Gazprom-Yugra". Despite the little experience in the Super League, Arthur spent most of his short career in the major league “A”. Young (21 year) the finisher is just starting his journey in big-time volleyball, and we hope, that with the help of our team he will succeed. Let's get acquainted!

About the path

I started playing volleyball in my native Naberezhnye Chelny, at the age of ten he came to coach Alexander Alexandrovich Maltsev. Once at a competition, breeder Alexander Elatontsev noticed me and invited me to Ufa, where in less than six months I got from the training group to the Ural youth team. Played in the youth team for two and a half seasons, after that - three seasons in the major league team "A" "Tarkhan", from which he occasionally joined Ural in the Super League (Arthur's debut in the Super League took place 19 Martha 2023 of the year in the match "Ural" - "Zenit-Kazan", - approx.. order.).

About the game

I try to be a universal finisher, I think, that modern volleyball requires exactly this from my role. My strengths: stable reception, good physical fitness. I also think, that I have good tactical thinking, ability to read the game. I'm a little lacking in composure in endings., I would also like to stabilize the serve and increase efficiency in attack. Among Russian finishers, I am inspired by the play of Dmitry Volkov and Anton Semyshev, I admire the skill of Erwin Ngapet and Tory Defalco at the world level.

About the transition, competition and motivation

My agent suggested me to move to Surgut. I didn't think for a long time, we decided together, that this is the best career development option. I have great motivation to develop in professional sports, and in Surgut there are all possibilities for this. There's a good team here, there is a chance to work with an experienced coaching staff, in a highly competitive environment, these are excellent conditions for professional growth. Sure, I want to bring maximum benefit to the team, and on a personal level, I strive to become one of the leading finishers in Russia, win titles.

Competition motivates me, I'm ready for a serious fight for a place in the lineup. understand, that in a team like Gazprom-Yugra everyone must prove their worth - in training and in matches. I think, that I was hired not just for growth, but as a player, capable of benefiting the team right now. I'm willing to work hard for this.

About rest and preparation for the season

I prefer active recreation, but sometimes I can play computer games, to escape from the outside world. Books, table tennis, documentaries are also mine. Now I'm at home, in Naberezhnye Chelny. I go to the gym, I watch my diet, I play beach volleyball - the usual program before training camps, where you need to arrive ready for heavy loads.
