Look at yourself
"Dynamo" (Moscow): Pankov – Sokolov, Vlasov - Belogortsev, Bogdan – Podlesnykh, Kovalev
"Gazprom-Ugra" (Surgut): Kirillov – Papazov, Bloodless – Fedorov, Rodychev is Masko, Vyshnevetsky
The coaching staffs unanimously decided to take a look at the “fresh” liberos, and the Surgut residents completely drove almost the entire train through the site. Konstantin Bryansky was a little more careful, releasing Zudin and Kayumov closer to the middle of the third set.
Papazov scored a point with a serve from the rope and brought the Surgut team ahead - 4:3. On balance 5:5 Pankov took over from behind the line, Gazprom-Yugra turned out to be categorically unprepared for his shortened feeds, which led to two aces and 5:8. Further more: Pavel stepped in, but no one noticed it (perhaps, it seemed to me), the reception gave the Muscovites freeball, and for the residents of Surgut - an unbreakable pipe. Papazov hits out and the score is already 5:10.
Actually, that made the difference. Masko had enough at the reception (ace from Bogdan, 6:12) and fell into the hands of Sokolov in the attack (6:13). Then played a difficult ball, but the locomotive has already left. Dynamo plays double substitution, Kurash and Sapozhkov appear, Alexey Rudakov answers symmetrically - Ivanov and Rudnev come out. After a short time, Konstantin Bryansky starts a step-by-step reverse double replacement, Rudakov mirrors his colleague again. Meanwhile, the residents of Surgut get the long-awaited break, raising Sokolov's discount - Masko scores, 14:20. Similar situation: dragging Vlasov's discount, Papazov scores, 16:21. Our supply is getting better, Punks run around a lot, but Dynamo are great even on the balls they win. Rodichev lay in wait for the signature discount of the Dynamo setter, but a repeated threat came from Sokolov - we are dragging on defense, the ball flies into the post, 17:24. The set concludes with two lively fighting rallies: Rodichev completes the first, second – Sokolov, 18:25.
For the second set, instead of the attacker with an efficiency of 75% Papazova comes out Rudnev. Pankov leads Vlasov into Beskrovny’s arms with a low pass., 4:2. Kirillov pulls out the ball flying towards the opponent with one hand, throws back to Rudneva - the picture was “not expected”, without block, 5:3. Mistakes by Bogdan and Sokolov in attack lead to 8:4 and the first Dynamo timeout. Denis and Tsvetan didn’t figure it out a little later, who to beat in an emergency, 11:8. Nevertheless, Dynamo are getting close: we can't get it off on the first try, and the Muscovites' finishers include a branded, pipe from Bogdan and discounts from Podlesny, 11:10.
We are closing the distance again: Rodichev accepted and scored, Rudnev served perfectly and finished off the game, 14:11. "Dynamo" turns on the "return": Sokolov, Bogdan, Masko's block on the freeball, 15:14. Rudnev fails to cope with an awkward pass, Sokolov compares, 15:15. Kirillov takes the floor: short serve ace (18:16) and one more, power, immediately after the second Dynamo timeout, 19:16.
Another Dynamo chase evens out the balance after Podlesnykh’s ace, 21:21. The teams go head to head. Rodichev serves tightly, Pankov pulls out the outgoing ball to Bogdan - 23:24. Well, Pavel’s signature ace decides the outcome of the set.
We're on our way to the third game, so to speak, highly experimental composition: Ivanov, Rudnev, Fedorov, Bloodless, Slobodyanyuk, Serov. Muscovites have Sapozhkov appearing on a permanent basis and using his ace to indicate the lead, 1:4. We cling: Slobodyanyuk serves well, Rudnev - attacks, 5:6. The idea of using Fedorov in the attack is chronically floundering, Rudnev does not find a site, Sapozhkov scores 5:9. And then Serov reads the shortened pitch from Pankov, a shootout ensues, in the endgame of which Sapozhkov is blocked by a block, 6:9.
We couldn't resist, failure again: no feed, attacks missed – Ivanov’s attempts to speed up the game did not produce results, 6:12. Bryansky is gradually releasing Kayumov, Zudin and Kurasa, Rudnev makes a break (10:15), Podlesnykh hits out, but we caught the net on the block.
The second half of the set broke up into a series of aesthetically interesting episodes, because the battle is for the result, in fact, ended early. Here Zudin did not calculate the trajectory of the ball and “dropped” it at his feet (11:17). Here Serov competently unscrews the emergency ball from a triple block (13:20). Here Sapozhkov, in a giant leap, picks out a ball flying behind the antenna with his left hand (13:21). Rudnev beautifully puts a quick pass into the line, 15:22. It throws off the undergrowth no less gracefully, 15:23. Ivanov cosplays Pankov's signature discount with both hands, 16:23. And it all ended in marriage, 19:25.
Match result, probably, secondary. It would be naive to expect a victory over Dynamo, although the second set of “Gazprom-Yugra” could well have caught on. Realizing this, our coaching staff reviewed almost the entire roster and probably made their own conclusions. My conclusions: they gave in quite decently. It’s difficult to find a way against Dynamo scrap, but we managed to stay afloat, to divert the Muscovites' fine-tuning away from the grid. Played well in defense, not everything worked out in attack and blocking – but this is not surprising given the level of resistance. Overall the game was quite entertaining, amplitude. It’s definitely not worth covering your head with ashes, and it is possible and necessary to derive benefit from defeat.
