YUKIOR is on schedule for the championship
It's nice to see YUKIOR among the leaders of the Youth Volleyball League standings. After three rounds our guys have 12 victories and 0 lesions. But three tiebreaker wins will leave us in second place, if Novosibirsk "Lokomotiv-SSHOR", also going undefeated, will beat Enisey-2 at home 19 November.
However, first or second place is not so important, the main thing, that we are confidently on track to reach the upcoming Final Six. remind, that last season YUKIOR won the regular season, but at the final stage he was left without medals. In the current championship there are still four rounds ahead and the Gazprom-Ugra youth team will have to meet with its main competitors: the same "Lokomotiv-SSHOR", Novy Urengoy "Fakel", Kazan "Zenit-UOR".
In the meantime, let's tell, how four victories turned out in Moscow in the third round, where our opponents were the capital's teams - the bronze medalist of the 2024 MVL "Dynamo-Olympus" and MSTU-2. Two matches against Dynamo were relatively easy for the Ugra team: two shutout wins. YUKIOR encountered stubborn resistance only in the second games of each match, which we won by a score 27:25 and 25:23 respectively. In the first game, Ivan Skvortsov became the most active player in the Ugra team., collected 13 points with attack at the level 58% and a positive welcome to 79%.
In the repeat meeting with Dynamo-Olympus, the tone was set by Roman Parkhomenko (14 points, 60% efficiency in attack), Georgy Serov (13 points, 64%) and Ivan Skvortsov (12 points, 55%). The first meeting with MSTU-2 also did not cause any problems., victory 3:0. But the last game of the tour almost spoiled YUKIOR’s statistics: our guys clearly underestimated their opponent and lost in the first two sets. Fortunately, then there was enough emotion, strength and fighting qualities, to turn the tide of the match and make a full-fledged comeback with a victory in the tiebreaker 15:13. 20 points, including 4 Ace, knocked out diagonal Roman Golovanov in this game, Georgy Serov added to his assets 16 points and 68% positive reception, middle blocker Petr Petrenko pinned 9 points in attack with efficiency in 70%, and also built 4 block.
YUKIOR will try to extend its winning schedule at the home teraflex of the Premier Arena in Surgut, where, as part of the fourth round, it will play two matches each with Dynamo-LO-2 from Sosnovy Bor and Zenit-2 from St. Petersburg. Games start 17 December.
